Creative Interview | Mayker
We have the privilege of working alongside the most talented vendors. We’ve chosen to begin a Creative Interview series highlighting the incredible professionals we’ve come to know and love through our last decade in the wedding and private events industry.
Interiors and events have long collided as two creative industries that come together that make magic, and as the purveyor of all the pretty details, when a company comes along that has its foot in both worlds, we're immediately smitten. We're talking about one of the chicest rental companies the Southeast has to offer—Mayker. From transitional to contemporary, traditional to modern, their selection of pieces spans a variety of styles. We had a quick chat with Noelle Powell, our favorite collaborator on all things lounge and furnishings, to ask about trends, style, and the power of a really good chair.
When composing a lounge, what are the various design details you take into consideration to ensure the aesthetic is cohesive?
When designing lounge groupings I try to define the story the event is telling and find how I can enhance that narrative with our pieces. I aim to accomplish this by layering materials, textures, and orientations to find the perfect harmony between beauty and functionality!
Besides a lounge, how can couples or hosts incorporate your beautiful pieces into their events?
An elevated bar takes an event of any size to the next level! In my opinion, some of the most successful designs we’ve executed have had bar installations serve as a main focal point.
What is the benefit of renting an “upgraded” chair?
Chairs hold the power to set the tone for the space; opting for an upgraded seating choice creates interest and variety in the overall design!
